Here are some steps to cleaning your sauna hat without damaging the wool:
1. Shake it out
Give it a good shake or a gentle brush with a lint roller to get rid of any loose dirt or hair.
2. Spot clean (if it’s just a little dirty)
Got a small stain? Dab it with a cloth soaked in cool water and a bit of gentle detergent. No need to soak the whole thing.
3. Hand wash for a deeper clean
Fill a basin with cold water and a small amount of wool-safe detergent (like Woolite or baby shampoo). Let the hat soak for 5–10 minutes, gently swishing it around. No scrubbing or wringing - wool’s delicate!
4. Rinse it out
Dump the soapy water and refill with clean, cold water. Rinse the hat gently until the water runs clear.
5. Press don’t wring
Squeeze out extra water by pressing the hat between your hands or rolling it up in a towel. Avoid twisting it.
6. Lay flat to dry
Reshape the hat while it’s damp, lay it flat on a towel, and let it air dry naturally - no direct sun or heat.
